Description:
This is a forgotten and very rare Italian film. The film is a series of vignettes, looking into the lives of a series of decadent Italian lifestyles as seen through the eyes of an unemployed waiter (who has his own struggles).
– Susan Strasberg plays an unloved daughter trying to prove her devotion by taking care of her dying father (Curd Jurgens). While the father is on his deathbed, the son insists on throwing a night-time party.
– Ambitious young Mario (Renato Salvatori) tries his chance for success dividing his time between various acquaintances, including that of a wealthy industrialist and a Milanese lady.
– Louis Jourdan plays a downtrodden man whose love has left him.
– Antonella Lualdi has marriage problems with her inconsiderate husband, played by Jean Sorrel.
There are certainly shades of Sandra, La Docle Vita and La Notte and Italian portmanteau films of the 1960s (such as La Streghe).
With some beautiful black and white cinematography and a stellar international cast including Samy Frey, Louis Jourdan, Curd Jurgens, Jean Sorel, Susan Strasberg and Alida Valli, this is a beautiful film not to be missed.
